The Magic Faraway Tree

I thought this was absolutely delightful!

It was silly, light and fluffy but everyone involved played their parts as it it were Shakespeare and took it completely seriously so it just “worked”.

The effects were fine, the sets were fun and the magical characters very broadly drawn to the point of almost being one-dimensional but there were all great fun. The peril was real but only mild and the story made sense on its own terms, helped by the genuinely different characters of the three children who reacted in the ways that you would expect them to.

The momemt Moonface whispered to Timmy in the garden was very sweet and the happy ending was well deserved.

The various flying lands were great fun and well realised, leaving plenty of scope for a sequel.

Overall, a very light weight but funny movie with nothing to really dislike.A very enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes.
