General Systems Vessel

This image was inspired by the science fiction novels of Iain M. Banks. In the bottom right, a Superlifter is seen returning to it’s home GSV (General Systems Vessel), the Serious Lack of Commitment as it prepares to leave Chiark orbital, in the background.

The image was created using the Persistance of Vision ray tracing program from a hand-written script.

Inside the GSV

Another image inspired by Iain M. Banks, this time showing (a very small part of) the interior of a GSV, near the University district, late at night.

This image was created using Blender for the modelling, and Bryce for rendering, and some of the furniture came from Floorplan 10.

A work in progress, this next image is entirely a Blender creation and shows a restaurant in the large lake in the topside park visible in the first picture.

The Ceremonial Barge "Soliton"

Yet another Banks inspired image, from the opening pages of his novel &Look To Windward”. All of the objects were modelled in Sketchup 7 and imported into Vue 8 for the atmosphere, materials and final render.

School Building

This rendering, entirely created in Bryce shows a proposed extension for a nearby primary school. It has yet to be funded.

Old Manor House

This manor house was originally modelled in Kpovmodeller, a Linux program, and rendered using POVray. The scene is very early on a summer morning, before the occupants have stirred.

New Manor House

I enjoyed the Old Manor House so much that I wanted to model one properly. It isn’t finished yet, but here is a preview render from the Carrara modellor. This Manor House has a basement, rear terrace and fully modelled interior floors, walls and chimney stacks. I first thought about brickwork generating programs to help create UV maps of the exterior walls.
